Compliance & Service Standards: Oil Pro Auckland

Last reviewed: April 2026

1. Jurisdictional & Licensing Boundaries

Public road policy: In accordance with the Auckland Council Vehicle Use and Parking Bylaw 2025, Oil Pro operates exclusively on private property. We do not hold a Mobile Trading Licence for public roads; this strategic decision allows us to maintain competitive pricing by eliminating high council fees while ensuring compliance with local traffic regulations.

2. Site Requirements & Customer Responsibilities

Residential services: You must provide a legal, flat, and stable surface (driveway or private garage) with sufficient clearance — minimum 1.5 m around the vehicle — so we can work safely.

Commercial / office property: For services at workplaces, you must obtain permission from the property manager or business owner. Oil Pro can provide a “Certificate of Currency” for insurance upon request to assist with this.

3. Environmental Protection (RMA Compliance)

Oil Pro follows a zero-discharge protocol to protect Auckland’s waterways and to comply with the Resource Management Act (RMA) and the Auckland Stormwater Bylaw.

  • Primary extraction: Vacuum extraction (high-vacuum pumps) removes 90–95% of oil via the dipstick, reducing sump-plug leak risk.
  • Secondary containment: A PVC containment mat (heavy-duty, chemical-resistant) is placed under every vehicle before work begins.
  • Spill mitigation: We carry a Grade-A emergency spill kit (hydrophobic absorbent pads and professional biodegradable degreasers).
  • Waste management: Used oil and filters are transported and disposed of at certified hazardous waste facilities.

Reference: NZ Resource Management Act 1991, Section 15 — Discharge of contaminants into the environment (air, water, land). Unreasonable noise from land is addressed separately under Section 16.

4. WorkSafe & Technical Safety Standards

All maintenance follows WorkSafe NZ “Safe Systems of Work” expectations for automotive work:

  • Stability: Certified low-profile ramps and/or professional hydraulic jacks with secondary certified jack stands.
  • Securing: Wheel chocks are mandatory for all lifted vehicles.
  • Protocol: Every service follows our multi-point safety checklist before the vehicle is returned to you.

5. Liability & Guarantees

Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA): Services are performed with reasonable care and skill, as required by New Zealand law.

Public liability insurance: Oil Pro holds comprehensive public liability insurance.

Parts & warranties

New parts: All new parts supplied by Oil Pro carry a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. In the event of a part failure, Oil Pro will handle the warranty claim with the retailer on your behalf.

Second-hand / scrapyard parts: At your specific request, Oil Pro may source second-hand parts. These parts are sold “as-is” with no guarantee on longevity. Oil Pro guarantees the installation only.

Client-supplied parts: If you provide your own parts, Oil Pro provides zero warranty on the part or the labour if the failure is related to the part’s quality. A $75.00 fee applies if work cannot be completed due to incorrect client-supplied parts.

Consequential loss: Oil Pro’s liability for part failure is limited to the value of the service and the part, except where covered by our public liability insurance for “foreseeable consequential loss” under the Consumer Guarantees Act.

GST status: Oil Pro is currently not registered for GST (annual turnover under the registration threshold). Quoted prices are the final price you pay.

Privacy (Privacy Act 2020)

We collect personal information (name, location, vehicle details) only to provide our service and to communicate with you about your booking and maintenance reminders. We do not sell your data. You have the right to request access to and correction of your information. We handle data in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and do not sell your data to third parties.

Disposal fee (“Green fee”)

Your quoted price includes the oil disposal (green) fee unless we state otherwise in writing for a specific job.

6. Vehicle Condition & Service Execution

Pre-existing damage: We perform a mandatory digital condition report before every service. We are not liable for pre-existing mechanical failures, fluid leaks, structural rust, or stripped sump-plug threads identified during inspection.

Service frustration & incomplete work: If a service cannot be completed due to factors outside our control — including stripped threads from prior work, seized filters, incorrect parts supplied by you, or an unsafe work environment — the service may be stopped. This includes “rounded” sump bolts from previous mechanics or structural rust that makes jacking the vehicle unsafe. We prioritise vehicle integrity over service completion. The same applies to other structural and mechanical issues that prevent completing the job as a mobile service (for example: work that cannot be performed on-site with our equipment, jobs that need workshop-only tools, or where you are not ready to approve additional repairs or costs). In such cases a $75.00 non-completion fee applies to cover technical time and travel.

Weather & safety (force majeure): Oil Pro reserves the right to reschedule services in the event of extreme weather or unsafe outdoor conditions. We will coordinate with you to find the earliest safe alternative.

Cancellations: We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. “No-shows” or cancellations upon our arrival will incur a $50.00 travel & booking fee.

“Wait-and-see” policy: If we identify a critical safety issue during service, we will issue a safety advisory. If you choose to continue operating the vehicle against our advice, Oil Pro’s liability is extinguished for any subsequent failure related to that issue.

7. Authority to Approve

By booking our service and providing vehicle keys or access, the person making the booking is deemed to have the legal authority to approve all work and associated costs. Digital approval (via SMS or email) is legally binding under the Electronic Transactions Act.

8. Test Drives & Possession Risk

Oil Pro is authorised to operate your vehicle for diagnostic testing, safety verification, or relocation to a compliant service area. During this time the vehicle remains covered by the owner’s primary insurance, supplemented by Oil Pro’s public liability where applicable.

9. Worker’s Lien (Protecting Payment)

In accordance with New Zealand common law, Oil Pro reserves the right to exercise a worker’s lien over the vehicle. We may retain possession of keys or the vehicle until all outstanding invoices for labour and parts are settled in full.

10. Personal Property & Security

Client responsibility: Remove high-value items (cash, jewellery, electronics, tools) from the cabin and boot before service.

Liability limitation: We do not accept liability for loss or damage to personal property left inside the vehicle. The vehicle is provided for maintenance, not as secure storage.

Inventory check: Our technician may perform a brief visual sweep and note visible high-value items on the pre-service digital report.

Video monitoring: For safety, quality control, and security, our technician may use a body-worn camera or dashcam during service and any necessary relocation.

Key liability: Oil Pro is liable to replace keys only if lost while in our physical possession. We are not liable for spontaneous electronic failure of aged key fobs during service.

Child seats: Oil Pro will not remove or reinstall child safety seats. If a seat must be moved to access service points, you must re-secure it to NZ safety standards before driving.

This page forms part of our service agreement. Booking or accepting a quote acknowledges these standards. For questions, contact us before your appointment.
