Prepurchase inspection
Thinking of buying a used car? We inspect it before you commit — at the seller's driveway, a dealer yard, or wherever it's parked. We check what actually costs you money if it's wrong first (engine, then transmission), work through the rest of the vehicle, run a full diagnostic scan, and pull a CarJam history report. You get a clear, honest report and a conversation before you hand over any money. Fixed price: $169.
What's included
- Engine — fluids, leaks, belts and hoses, unusual noise, cold start, battery and charging. The most expensive system to get wrong, so it's checked first.
- Transmission — shift quality, clutch feel (manual), fluid condition, drivetrain noise.
- Body — panel alignment and paint match (signs of prior crash repair), rust, glass condition.
- Suspension & steering — road-test check for wear, noise, and steering response.
- Interior — general condition, seatbelts, odometer plausibility versus wear, odours.
- Full OBD diagnostic scan — fault codes across the vehicle's available systems.
- Electronics & windows — lights, wipers, central locking, power windows, aircon/heater.
- CarJam vehicle history check — ownership and money owing, odometer discrepancy, stolen/written-off status, WoF and rego status.
This is a mobile inspection with no hoist, so we can't fully inspect the underside — we'll tell you plainly if anything needs a workshop follow-up before you buy. Report and photos provided; results talked through with you directly, no obligation.
